Portugal The January 2006 hosted trip to Portugal will be based on wild boar hunting with a French pack of hounds -vautrait. Details will be placed soon on this page. In the meantime, for the rough program you can refer to what was done around stag hunting during the past years. Side activities as attending private bullfights, greyhound hare coursing, bird shooting over pointers or falconry, as well as the location will be similar. Chasse à courre -stag hunting- in the winecork-oak forest hills of the Alentejo region The Norman stag hunt -Rallye Etoile- will be organizing for the 3rd time, an outstanding stag hunting foray with French packs in the Alentejo region of Portugal. They will respond to an invitation of the Portuguese sportsmen together with the only Hunt of Portugal, Equipagem do Santo Huberto who associated their club with the Rallye Etoile. The region of Alentejo is situated east of Lisbon, bordering the Extremadura region of Spain. From Lisbon it represents a 2 hours drive by car. The program is the following: January 22 Chasse à courre -stag hunt- in the winecork-oak forest hills of Alentejo. There will be a second similar hunt on Sunday 1st of February. It is possible to follow the hunt either riding a horse or using 4 x 4 vehicles of the estate. January 23 This day can be organized optionnal small game shooting over pointers (partridge or woodcock). The alternative to this option is to visit a wild bull finca, ganaderia de toros bravos. Or horse breeders of pure blood Lusitanian horses dedicated to Portuguese style mounted bullfights (also keen falconers always happy to demonstrate the skills of their birds). January 24 Hare coursing with greyhounds in the wheat crops. It is possible to follow this either walking, riding a horse or using the 4 x 4 vehicles. Alternative visits of local wineries. Night life and dining Almost every night is organized a dinner party with entertainment by our Portuguese guests who are keen fado singers and guitar players, they will be relayed by our hunters and their horns. Most of the persons attending the event, speak English perfectly. Accomodation At the outstanding Pousada Flor da Rosa, built into a beautiful monastery of the XVIth century. Airfares We can help for airfares from Paris if you want to travel with the French group. We cannot help with airfares from England or the United States.
