It is where a jury of scientists finally kept the name "Amerique" in a choice of other possibilities (in honor of the navigator Amerigo Vespucci).. ; Montagne Vosgienne France 2002 The biggest event of the season 2002 will take place in the charming setting of the Vosges Mountains. More than 20 nations are already represented in the competition. There are two nice ideas of fly fishing break for you. Either attending the competition as a supporter of your own nation. Or visiting the very premises of the contest with your fly rod to check what would have been your own result. Of course this idea is only possible some time before or just after the competition. The Vosges Mountains are situated between the regions of Lorraine and Alsace. The touring road of the Alsace wines, is starting near the competition right outside the nice market town of Thann.

Where were the last competitions ? As far as I remember, Sweden, England, Norway and Western USA were the previous venues.	NB: A Frenchman called Pascal COGNARD won the cup three years in a row. Presumably not only by chance. This must be mentionned as many sportsmen seem to be surprised that French rivers are hosting fish and -good- fly fishermen...

Wednesday 3rd of July Opening ceremony on the no-kill stretch of La Bresse. Thursday 4th of July Official training day on the rivers Vologne, Moselotte, Thur, and the lake of Longemer. Friday 5th of July 2nd official training day on the rivers Vologne, Moselotte, Thur, and the lake of Longemer.

Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th &Monday 8th of July

Offficial competition days on the rivers Vologne, Moselotte, Thur, and the lake of Longemer.

Competitors are running -fishing- individually and by national team.

Tuesday 9th of July

Trophy ceremony at 6.00 pm in Gérardmer, followed by a feast and party. Fireworks on the lake.

Fish species

Rivers are hosting brown Fario trouts and grayling. The lake is stocked with rainbow trouts.
